I read in one of my blogs this morning about a Moms Get Fit Giveaway. So I entered.
You can read about the contest here.
Voting begins on September 25th. Be assured that I will let you know when that happens, because I will need your help to vote for me!
Below is a copy of the essay that I submitted:
I was overweight as a teenager, in middle and high school. I joined Weight Watchers and got a kick start towards the end of high school. I started working out regularly and did pretty well. By the time I got married, I was down to 118 lbs and felt like I needed to lose just ten more to be at goal (I'm pretty short, so that was realistic).
I started incorporating weights and thus gained definition and muscle so I didn't lose the ten pounds. What I did do was get down to a size 5 by the time I was pregnant. I planned to eat right, continue exercising and be one of those really cute pregnant chicks. :)
We ended up having some life issues take place that really took an emotional toll on me. I stopped exercising, stopped paying any attention to what I was eating and gained 50 lbs during my pregnancy.
Once I gave birth, we had most of our stuff together and when I got the go-ahead from my doctor, I started exercising again slowly but regularly. I lost 20 lbs by my first doctor visit but then slowly, ten of those pounds crept back in. Despite exercising regularly, trying Weight Watchers again, trying portion control, trying fruits/veggies only, I can't get my weight to budge. At all.
I thought perhaps my sleep wasn't productive enough (my daughter has been sleeping through the night since she was 5 weeks old, so she's not a problem at all) and I took a sleep study. Apparently I have no sleeping problems that they could find. I've been to see a primary care physician too to have tests run on my thyroid and vitamin levels (and anything else that might make a difference!). He too assured me that nothing was medically wrong but would I like to participate in their $1200 weight loss program?
People always tell me that it takes at least a year for your body to start going back to normal. Well, my daughter is over two years old now and I'm still up 40 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight. I just can't seem to get it to move.
I was pregnant at the same time as a lot of other women that I know and they all seem to have lost their weight. Every last one of them. I'm the only one who hasn't been able to and I feel like a failure who is going to ruin my daughter with unhealthy habits and an unhealthy body image. I definitely need help.

I appreciate you all reading my blog updates. It's nice to know that I have support. Hopefully soon I can ask for your support in winning this contest!
Have a great day!
I'll vote for you. I'll vote a million times if I can. I'm trying to win a bicycle. That's not as glamorous as this. But I really want that bike. It has a bucket that you can fit Jack in. I want him to feel what it's like to ride a bike. Anyway, I'll vote for you. A million times. xoxo
