Originally I started this blog to chronicle my journey to lose the baby weight. Well, that hasn't been working out too well for me.
So then I figured well, I like to write. I kept a journal all throughout middle school, high school, most of college and for years beyond. I stopped around the time that I got pregnant. Which, ideally, is when I should have kept a journal. I never claimed to be logical.
I've missed writing. A lot. Keeping a blog seemed like a fun thing to do. The only problem is that now I have NO IDEA what to write about. None at all whatsoever because let's be honest: I'm not the most glamorous or interesting of people. In fact, I'm kind of boring. I just like to write.
I just don't know what to write about. Sure, I'm fairly long-winded and could chat someone's ear off at times. However, I'm not great at starting the conversation. Ask me a question and I might be able to go on for hours but please, PLEASE, don't expect me to just spew information.
Why again did I think it would be a great idea to start a blog where I would have to pick my own subjects? I have delusions of grandeur about being able to write a blog that would be so witty and charming that everyone would wake up and immediately go check their feed reader in hopes of a new post from me.
Yeah. Delusions.
So I'm a mom of a two-year-old. And she's the smartest, sweetest, cutest little thing ever. I also work full-time outside of the home so I'm not with her most of the week. I don't exactly have potty training tips to share. I can't really write about work because...well...what if some of my co-workers find my blog? That could be a disaster! Not that I would ever write anything mean. Not me. Besides the fact that I work in a healthcare environment so I'm bound to the laws of HIPAA. Oh, HIPAA...you irk me.
Here's where you come in: please help me come up with something to write about! Maybe if I have a few fantastic ideas, it will get my creative juices flowing and I'll be able to come up with more subjects on my own.
I need to write! Or...type...actually. Let's not be technical.

Well, I hear you have this awesome best friend! I mean, why not write about her awesomeness? Just kidding...I think we should start a blog together...like two sides to every story. You write some, I write some...only that really won't work. You know, because as of 2 minutes ago, I am now a homeschooling mom! Yeah! Write about that!
ReplyDeleteI think you're doing a great job and I think you should keep going with what you're already doing. Really!
xoxoox
Write what you know.
ReplyDeleteSo, what did you write about in your journal when you were in school? Write about the best part of your day, the worst part of your day, life in general. Maybe ideas would come to you more easily if you are just your natural witty self instead of trying to be witty. Sometimes things get easier when we stop trying to hard. Actually, I like Heather's idea. How about starting with something like what you like the most (or least) about being a mom. Don't forget you get points for honesty!!
ReplyDeleteI think every blogger (myself included) would like to think there are readers out there waiting with baited breath to read our every word. We just need to find those very compelling words!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Anonymous - write what you know and slowly but surely you'll find "your people."
Happy Writing!
