It has been a long, exhausting week.
Mom went back to the doctor on Monday for a follow-up on her wrist. They took the stitches out and gave her a removable hard brace. She was sore that day and the next, but she's doing TONS better now! She has another surgery (for something unrelated) scheduled for a week from this Monday - the Monday before Thanksgiving. Hopefully the recovery from that won't be long. Then the following week, she goes back to the ortho to follow-up on her wrist again and she should find out whether she can drive at that point. Let's pray that she can. She's tired of being stuck in the house all week and she misses going shopping with The Princess and Granny!
As for my daughter, The Princess, as most of you probably know, she has had a bit of trouble going to the bathroom lately. She still isn't potty-trained, and we're not pushing the issue so there's no pressure or stress from us telling her that she has to get on the potty. Maybe it's the change in routine. Not only did Mom break her wrist, so now my daughter doesn't go over there during the week anymore, that also happened to occur the very same day that I started my MGF (Moms Get Fit) Journey. She has the change of her grandpa living with us and caring for her all week long, rather than just on Mondays, and she only sees my mom once or twice a week at this point, plus I'm also gone on Tuesdays and Wednesdays now (in addition to our Monday night FPU classes) and our Fridays are different because I have Medi and workout appointments, plus we go to see Mom.
That baby has been through some major changes lately. Pat called the doctor the first week, got instructions and she went right away that night. She went again on Sunday. Then she didn't go again all week until Friday night when it was just me and her. And it was a big one. But she didn't go again all week long, until Pat gave her some more medicine last night. So it's been three weeks and she's only had three bowel movements.
I called the doctor's office this morning to talk to them again and was told to get some Miralax to give her for a while. I ended up buying Pedialax because the Miralax is for people 16 and up! If she was 10 or something, I'd think okay, that's fine, smaller dose. But she's two. So I got the Pedialax. Then they told us that Dr. F wants her to get a stomach x-ray taken. We went and did that right away, since I was already off work and didn't have any other plans. She did pretty well, just had to lay on a bed with the x-ray machine over her, but it was scary and she didn't want to lay down at first. She left giggling though, so all was well.
The tech said that she could see some stool in there, but the radiologist would have to read the x-ray to see if there are any other obstructions. She said if there was something serious, the doctor's office would probably call us today (and as of this point, they haven't) but otherwise the transcription would be done on Monday and they'll call sometime next week.
She doesn't seem to be in any sort of pain or even discomfort, so I'm guessing it's not anything serious. I just want to make sure she's okay.
And now (drum roll, please)...I went to Medi this morning for my three week follow-up. Here are the results:
This week, I lost 1/2 an inch in my waist - for a total of 1 inch in 3 weeks.
This week, I lost 3.8 pounds - for a total of 9.3 pounds in 3 weeks.
This week, I lost 1.1% body fat - for a total of 1.9% body fat in 3 weeks.
For all of my moaning and groaning last week, I'm quite content now.
Medi has been going pretty well. I will admit that it's HARD when the reps bring lunches to work like Boston Market and Macaroni Grill and Baja Burrito Kitchen. I do my best to stay out of there, except for the couple of minutes I need to heat up my veggie patty.
The doctor did tell me that since I'm a vegetarian, it would be okay for me to have two shakes a day rather than the one that they recommend to everyone. That has made my life a LOT easier. I was trying to just have one, but it was really, REALLY hard to eat that chicken. So I succumbbed to the twice daily shakes and no longer have to spend my days dreading the meal with chicken! Or trying so hard to get it all down.
I've been walking four days a week during my 30-minute lunch breaks at the Fitness Center where I work. At first I was doing 3.0 mph so that I wouldn't really work up a sweat, seeing as how I can't shower afterward and I have the rest of the workday to get through. James told me to bump it up a bit though, so last Wednesday I started out at 3.0 to warm up, then went up to 3.5 before going back down for my cool down. This Wednesday, after doing 3.5 for ten minutes, I decided to go up a little more to 3.6 for the next ten minutes and felt a lot better. Yesterday, I started at 3.0 for my warm up, went to 3.5, then 3.6, then 3.7, then 3.8. After 30 minutes, I'd walked 1.67 miles!
Not bad for a short chick with little strides.
My goal is to eventually be able to walk 2 full miles in 30 minutes. I think I can do it!
Last Friday with James, I asked him to teach me some self-defense because it is pitch black when I leave work every night. After my workout, since we had a little time, we spent another 10-20 minutes on that. He would show me some things and then I'd practice them. It was AWESOME. Great cardio exercise, fun, AND I feel a little bit better armed with information now.
I can't remember if I mentioned this in my last post or not, but he teaches self-defense classes. They're typically about an hour long and he recommends 4-5 classes total. He can teach at his studio or he can come to us. If anyone is interested, let me know - I'd love to get a class together!
Well, that's my update for this week. I'll keep you posted on what the doctor says about my girl.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
For real, Jack takes the Adult dose of Miralax. Every day. No joke.
ReplyDeleteAnd I am very proud of you.
Do you hear me cheering?! Cause I am!
3.6 mph??? That's all out running for our short legs. Good job!!!
ReplyDeleteI would totally be interested in classes. But...not 'til January! :o)
