Around the time my daughter turned two, we decided it was time to at least make an attempt to potty-train her.
We failed miserably. We went from big girl panties, to Pull-Ups, then back into diapers. How's that for progression? There were some other turn-of-events that happened and changed our course a little bit too. After a while we just stopped trying and decided to let her make the choice once she was ready.
Lately my parents have been telling her that when she turns three, she'll be a big girl and that means using the potty. Somehow, in her sweet little brain this morphed into, "Once I have my birthday cake, I'll use the potty like a big girl!" Hey, I'll use whatever it takes. If it means using birthday cake to get her to use the potty, so be it. I understand the draw of birthday cake all too well.
She'll be three in just over a week, so yesterday my mom decided to put her in big girl panties for a little while in the morning, just to try. Apparently she really liked them because she asked to wear big girl panties again today! And then she asked to sit on the potty! There wasn't any action, but that's okay! It's progress!
I'm becoming very excited at the prospect of not having to buy diapers in the (hopefully) near future.
In other news, her latest thing to do in the mornings when I leave for work is stand at the door and say, "Um, Momma? One more last thing..." And then she'll just spew out whatever comes to mind first. It is truly one of the most adorable things ever. I usually end up cutting it close for work, but I adore that time to focus on her and show her that what she has to say is important to me.
I love that little girl.

That sounds like the sweetest way to start your morning...guess it makes the potty training struggles worth it. :)
